What happens if I get my EAD after 180 days of concurrent filing i-140 & i-485, and my employer no longer has a vacancy for me. Can I start at another job or do I have to refile the i-140. (I'm not presently working for the company yet - Schedule A applicant)

This seems very unfair to people who had earlier PDs (2004 & 2005) and who have waited so many years to file. Now, people with PDs in 2007 will jump ahead of them in the queue just because of this fiasco, juts because they filed earlier. :confused:
Talk about earlier PD's. Mine is March, 2002!! It would be disheartning to see people with PD's of 2004/2005 getting a visa number because they got the receipt number a couple of days before I did while I waited for all these years for the visa bulletin dates to move!!
And I bet that there are people from 2002/2003 still stuck at BEC's who might get labor and I-140 approved in a few months to find out they are at the end of the queue and would have to wait few more years because the dates might retrogress!!
I wish the USCIS would sort all applications by PD after August, 17th. But looking at their "Processing times" page, they seem to go by the receipt dates:

not necessary ...replacements are difficult for key jobs and expertise. if the right person leaves the job ..then a small / medium (or even large ones) can go off road. more than replacement ..it is the effort to find the right person, train him ..and for that person to go through the experience curve ..(I guess you are looking from your level ..are you in s.ware or in testing ?....if yes, you need to look at other higher levels ..ofcourse, for such people EB1 is available ..)
but I agree ..it does not hurt US as much since economy is so huge ..but it can definitely hurt the business firms ..this was the main reason why the law was changed (or passed) ..to allow H-1 people to continue staying even after 6 years ..earlier they had to leave compulsorily..(I am not an expert ..so feel free to correct).
and this can happen either at highly skilled level in a big company to a smaller business..
for e.g. a restaurant can go out of business if their main skilled cook is forced to leave due to immi (or something else).

Not sure if anyone else has faced this so wanted to put this out: I own a home and have a loan on it since 2003 (I was on H1 when i took the loan), now that the ARM is about to adjust i am in the market for refinance.
There is however a question on all the loans underwritten by freddy/fanny asking for immigration status and if the answer is EAD the loan is denied. They even sent me an explanation of denial.....:confused:

What you see on the status page for sure reflects the ND and NOT the RD. So you can pretty much ignore what the status page says and rely on what your physical notice says (it states the actual RD when they physically received the package!)

Silly question but I need an answer :)...How can I use Bill pay here? I bank with BOA and it asks for a company name if I choose bill pay...
The company name can be Immigration Voice. Normally you do not need an account number per se, although you COULD try and put in your IV handle as the acct number if it allows non numeric characters in the acct number.
A lot of people have used BOA, can someone guide zoooom please

Here is my point. I spend several hours 3-4 hours at least every day looking through the forum posts hoping to find ways i can contribute to efforts. There are several ideas that are generated in the forum. But cannot find out who is leading it. All i am saying is if we can have a listing of initiatives with some names associated. So i can contribute to the ones that i can support. I am not sure if i am asking for too much here. I am not a IT guy. I do not know what it takes to post it in the front page.

Require 3/5 majority) HR.2669 is passed by both Senate and house and sent for conference to resolve the difference between house and senate versions and president is sure to sign the bill and thus would become the law in another few days. This amendment does not have anything to do with defence bill or with SKILL bill. Following is the actions taken by congress of HR 2669.
IF THE AMENDMENT HAD PASSED WE WOULD HAVE GOT ATLEAST 240,000 RECAPTURED, UNUSED VISAS OF PREVIOUS YEARS IN ANOTHER FEW DAYS.

I don't think so. Eventhough they make U in september bulletin. They have to move dates in October bulletin because of new visa numbers.
I can understand the excitement. I am also in EB2 2005 PD. But the fact is that, this seems like a temporary movement only...i don't think dates can stay at 2006, going by simple math.
PPl can give me those red marks, but i think dates will retrogress again by Oct.

Leave aside the asset I am in debt of over 200K , If I leave the country looses may be 1-2K

I am sure most of you have assets worth of at least $150,000. So if 300,000 are stuck in the backlog. This would mean if these guys leave this country, then that would be $45 trillion loss for USA.
Guys is there a way to get some media publicity of the possible loss of $45 trillion for USA due to US Immigration mess??

what about: married filing separately..since both me and my wife are on H1.. we filed separetly last year for some vague reasons!
